Nurse Practitioners

Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners (NP) are registered nurses with qualifications at an advanced level. They are highly qualified practitioners with advanced clinical skills which allow them to examine, assess, diagnose, treat, prescribe and refer patients for investigations. Nurse Practitioners can deal with much of the doctor’s work Patients with an acute or short term illness may see an ANP or NP rather than a GP. The aim of implementing the ANP/NP service is to enhance the services available for patients. GP’s will still be available to treat patients who have complex health needs.
