Care Quality Commission

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) are the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.

The CQC make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and encourage them to improve.

They monitor, inspect and regulate services to make sure they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety and publish what is found, including performance ratings to help people choose care.

Our GP Practice has recently undergone a CQC inspection and the results are now freely available on the CQC Website.  You can access the report below

We would like to clarify that the "Requires improvement" about patient care refers to staff immunisations and not direct patient care.

Feedback from the inspection and actions taken:

We were obviously disappointed with the result of our recent CQC inspection, our staff work very hard to provide a good quality of care and we feel that the outcome fails to reflect this.  On a positive note we are working very hard to make the changes recommended by the inspectors and are hopeful that you will be able to see the improvements we are making.

We are aware that many patients have significant difficulty contacting us by telephone. When our telephone lines open at 8am there are often high numbers of patients attempting to join the queue at any one moment, with many patients having to call back 5 or 6 times.  We have attempted to meet this demand by increasing the number of operators working at this time.  We have also reduced the call queue to 3 callers waiting on hold to prevent you having to be on hold for an excessive amount of time.  Due to this if you are the fourth or more caller attempting to join the queue you will now hear the message that lines are extremely busy.   We are aware that there have been intermittent problems with the telephone network and callers may have been cut off when they were first in the queue, we apologise profusely for this.

We are continually working on access and have recently increased the number of telephone appointments available with a clinician to try to meet the high demand.  We  are also trying to recruit additional doctors.

Our highly skilled Nurse Practitioners working on behalf of the GP, can also see you and prescribe for you when required.
